Maine was so much better than I could have imagined. Buckle up because I took a lot of photos. Our first day we arrived in Portland and went straight to Eventide for lunch. I had been recommended Eventide by a few people and it did not disappoint. Their lobster roll is life changing and it was fun to sample a variety of oysters.
From there we got Trader Joes for the week and drove up to Blue Hill to settle into our Airbnb. If you are considering going to Maine I cannot recommend Blue Hill and the home we stayed in enough. It was a creaky, old quintessential Maine home: Downeast Treasure to Enjoy - Houses for Rent in Blue Hill, Maine, United States - Airbnb.
I loved sitting on the porch in the morning having coffee and watching deer in the yard. The town of Blue Hill also has great shopping, restaurants, coffee and a wine/cheese shop that was perfect. We were able to quickly get to quite a few locations from Blue Hill.
Day 2 we drove to Bar Harbor for whale watching but alas the whale watching was cancelled due to fog. The weather was pretty epically moody and we were able to pivot and hike to Thuya Gardens, which was a highlight of the trip for me. We also hiked to our first lighthouse.

Day 5 we decided to cash in on that cancelled whale watching trip... but it was cancelled again. So! We instead took a sunset boat tour of Acadia. While waiting for the sunset cruise we were able to visit the Bar Harbor Aquatic Center to continue exploring my new passion for Lobsters. They had a rare tangerine, cotton candy and calico lobster! All that lobster looking made us hungry for lobster, so we went out for lobster melts before the stunning boat trip.
And then next day we went home. That's a wrap on Maine. Memories were made, excellent food was consumed and we had minimal arguments. I love you Josh and Bowie!
